The Sixth Form is a partnership between you and your teachers. We will endeavour to provide you with the best possible educational experience and you should respond showing commitment to your chosen studies.
As a School we will provide:
- appropriately qualified teaching staff
- lessons, material and homework assignments which are thoroughly prepared and
appropriate to your needs
- clear course plans, reasonable homework deadlines
- coursework requirements published at the beginning of the course
- assignments and coursework marked according to the Sixth Form Assessment
Policy and, where appropriate, returned within a reasonable period of time
- access to a well resourced Learning Resource Centre
- lessons which begin promptly
- advance warning of any changes to schedules, wherever possible
- academic tutorials with your personal tutor
- support in developing study skills and independent learning
- reviews and written reports
- the opportunity to make your views known on the quality of Sixth Form
- additional support to achieve your learning goal
- information about the Sixth Form Procedures and Policies
- careers information, advice and guidance
- effective advice and guidance for making further and higher education
applications
- effective advice and guidance for making job applications
- access to confidential counselling services
- a well maintained and resourced Sixth Form Centre
- a supportive environment where all staff (teachers, support staff, administrators,
site managers) treat you with respect
- a school reference for an employer or higher education establishment
- the opportunity to run and be part of a student union to organise events and
represent student views
As a student, I agree:
- to show courtesy and consideration to all members of the School community
and its neighbours, to respect its buildings and surroundings and to keep the
environment litter free
- to abide by all our routines and regulations as set out in the Student Study
Planner
- to aim for a 100% attendance record at School i.e. to attend all morning and
afternoon registrations, assemblies, academic tutorials, all lessons
- to arrive on time for lessons, be ready and prepared to learn, thereby taking
responsibility for my own learning
- to follow the correct procedures to notify the School of absence and seek
permission for known absences
- to meet all assignment and coursework deadlines and to hand in work on time
and to an appropriate standard; discuss any problems in these areas with
teachers before they become serious
- to use two thirds of my non-taught time as private personal study in School (The
Sixth Form Common Rooms are not appropriate for this – This will be
monitored)
- to enrol on and attend promptly the required number of enrichment and General
Studies sessions
- not to take holidays of any kind during term time
- to attend work experience placements as allocated, comply with work
experience procedures and ensure every effort is made to make it a successful
placement
- to conduct myself appropriately when on School organised trips, visits and work
experience
- not to undertake more than ten hours paid employment per week during term
time. (Ideally students should do no paid employment especially in the period
leading up to external exams)
- to make good use of all the services and facilities we provide including our
information service, careers guidance, private study and IT facilities
- to return all books and equipment belonging to the School at the end of each
course or to pay for any which are lost
I understand that failure to follow these expectations may lead to the application of
