1st Diploma in Public Services
Cadets attend CCF each Thursday and undertake training in accordance with Army and RAF cadet training syllabuses.
Subjects taught include:
- First Aid
- Map reading
- Radio communications
- Aircraft handling
- Navigation
- leadership
- band practice
- in addition to military knowledge
Subjects often taught by the cadets themselves. Cadets who have completed their CCF training now have an opportunity to gain credit for their efforts by way of a new post 16 BTEC award.
The vocational qualifications office at Frimley Park (Army Cadet training centre) has negotiated the award of a 1st Diploma in Public Services. Equivalent to 4 GCSE’s grade A* - C. Cadets register at the end of year 11, to take the award during the spring term in year 12. Normal CCF activities and adventurous training satisfy the majority of the qualification criteria, which is counted retrospectively. Completion of the Diploma simply requires cadets to complete a workbook on:
- Two public services
- Health and nutrition.
